There is a slowness to Pedasi; a rhythm in the way people live day to day. Its inevitable that in a few days you will slow down. Your hurry will turn into a cold beer (for 50 cents), waiting for the local taxi to pick you up and take you to visit Isla Iguana, an island that everybody talks about with good reason. When you get to the beach the fisherman that has been waiting for you doesnt question why you are late. There is no need for an explanation: everybody is late. He starts the engine and somewhere on the way the hum of the engine becomes hypnotic, the ocean slaps against the side of the boat, a light occasional spray covers you. The water is warm, salty, rich and inviting. The ocean translucent, in a nutshell this is Pedasi.
In summary, Pedasi is a small fishing village still on the verge of discovery where you can still rent a 4 bedroom house for under $500 a month, a pound of yard raised chicken costs $1.20, Fresh Yellowfin tuna costs $.25 cents a pound, a full meal in a restaurant costs $2.50, a doctors visit is $40 and family insurance is under $1,000 a year. As a family, its hard to spend more than $1500 a month on all living expenses (maid included). Compared to Panama, living in Azuero is substantially less than living in Panama city. The cost of living in Pedasi however is a small part of investing in Pedasi. The value is an unmatched lifestyle with a window of opportunity to make a substantial amount of money (depending of what you consider money).
I remember even a couple of years ago, when people were still saying, Pedasi is far from being discovered or it will take ten years, I dont have that much time or what about the infrastructure ?. For the few that didnt wait, there is no question Pedasi payed off, and payed off big. Pedasis Land appreciation continues to be a once in a lifetime opportunity (I would be happy to provide references). Now you ask the once skeptic Panamanians and they become silent, hesitate, say nothing. Thats the difference between fortune and lack thereof; the boldness to ask the right questions and answer them for yourself. In thinking about Pedasi and its potential, I cant help noticing that there are fundamental questions at the heart of people that invested and continue investing in Pedasi
What are investors recognizing of value in Pedasi before everybody else does?
Whats the time frame it will take for people to see this value?
Who has already invested in Pedasi?
What is the track record for these kinds of acquisitions in Pedasi?
Why are the movie stars here?
In a real estate crisis, why is this area still growing in value?
What are the government plans to provide growth in the area?
These questions are not about intuition (for first time visitors), but have become more now about common sense, Pedasi as a place with enormous unique and intrinsic value, exposed for the first time. In Costa Rica it is difficult to buy ocean view (never mind oceanfront) land for less than $300 a sqm. The questions become Is land for under $100 a sqm a sound investment? Is there room for appreciation? How much more does Panama offer that Costa Rica doesnt?
This letter could have been about answering these questions. It could have offered opinions, judgments like everything else out there. Regardless, there would be bias. Especially considering that I live in Pedasi, and saw its value a decade ago. The point being: Are the right questions being asked about the region. And how have the people that have invested done?
Life is full of obligations, and time away is difficult. Before you think about coming to Pedasi however think about this: In Pedasi you have no obligations, life is serene, a different world, far away from everything, a timeless place where yearning and achieving are one and the same. With the promise of creating wealth, living the best life you can and meeting people who are living examples of this..invest 5 minutes of your life, to find out how much of a secret Pedasi is. And no….not for the purpose of selling you anything !!!
